Welcome to Minato Dojo Website
The Minato Dojo is a small private Iaido Dojo in Lydd, Kent, teaching the art of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu and the Seitei Iaido of the All Japan Kendo Federation.
Our Senior Instructor, Mr Doug Evans (Godan), a former European Iaido Champion in 1999 and silver medal winner in 200 started his journey in Budo in 1972, studying Goju Ryu Karate and Kendo; then began his study of Iaido in 1980. He opened his Iaido Dojo in 1989 and retired from Karate in 1992 at Yondan level to concentrate on his Iaido career.
Formally a Kenseikai Dojo, the dojo was renamed Minato Dojo by the then European head of Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Haruna Matsuo Sensei (Hachidan Kyoshi) in 2001.
After the passing of Haruna Sensei in 2002 the mantle passed to Haruna Sensei's long time student and friend Oshita Mazakazu Sensei (Hachidan Kyoshi) of Genbukan Dojo, Kobe, Japan, who is now supported by his good friend Kancho Morita Tadahiko Sensei (Hachidan Kyoshi) of Rokushikan Dojo, Kyoto, Japan.
We are pleased to say that both of these esteemed Sensei are patrons of Minato Dojo and mentors to Mr Evans.
